My Story
Basically I went from answering E-mails all day to traveling the world & running a 6 Figure Marketing Agency.
Short Answer: I went from answering customer support emails working a 9-5 I hated - to traveling the world consulting and eventually opening up my own 6 figure marketing agency that allows me to do what I want every single day.
Longer Answer: When I was 24 I felt like I had failed... I graduated from University at 23 with two Degrees, one in Marketing and one in Business Management. I had made my mom proud but I never truly wanted to live a "corporate 9-5 life".
-
I was then given time by my parents to "look for a job". I actually spent most of this time trying to create some form of making money online(and playing video games). I then ran into an old friend at the gym who had a startup already that seemed to be heading in the right direction with sponsors etc and they needed a "social media" guy. Got an interview with the team and boom I was the new "Media Director" for a Mud Run Event startup company named Benjamin Dash.
(Basically a Spartan Race cousin)
It was a zero pay gig but we ultimately had the dream of one day being bought out for an immense amount of money as many startups were in those days. This was enough to get my parents off my back about getting a job. The first event happened successfully, we barely broke even on cost even with tons of help and in someway the dream was kind of dead and it now had been a year of me generating 0 income. My mom helped sign me to a job hunting agency at that point. I ended up getting a job about a month later.
The job was at a Fortune 500 company at the most minor level of the customer support team that would help me "transition to a marketing position eventually". I had to wake up everyday at 5:30 A.M to take the bus at 6:00 A.M. in order to then take the train at 6:45 A.M to get to the office by 8:00 A.M. I absolutely hated every single day I worked there.
-
I then found out through networking with other people in the Company that I was in a "burn" position. I was in a position that they would rotate college grads for 3-4 months at a time before firing them in order to have the best ROI on the busy work they had me do and not have to legally raise their pay or hire them. I already hate the idea of having to be somewhere from 9-5 every single day but this was all i needed to hear in order to officially quit the idea of a corporate life forever.
-
I found out the minimum amount of work they needed from me to be in the clear and setup a system to automatically do it for me within 45 min. After that, I basically had 7 hours or so where I would work on things that interested me and could get me out of that situation.
-
I then started noticing these articles talking about people making really good money from Youtube & Facebook. This is where I began to obsess with the entire Social Media world that was emerging as I had a gut feeling it was my way out. Then it hit me like a pile of bricks... I spent 4 years of my life earning a marketing degree and spending thousands of dollars only to have learned a completely outdated system.
-
Social Media & Internet marketing is the future and the REAL most effective form of marketing. All my research was convincing me of it and I turned my anger of having wasted all this time in college into more momentum to continue learning. It wasn't just a few people making a living from the internet it was THOUSANDS and I wanted to be one of them. My true dream of entrepreneurship was right in-front of me...
-
I started learning more and more about it until a friend showed me a job position where this guy was looking for a Social Media Consultant to grow his YouTube/Online Brand for him while traveling the world every week. He was part of one of the largest companies in the Self Improvement niche. It seemed impossible that I would actually get this chance.
-
I said fuck it, messaged him directly on Facebook in a way I figured would be opposite of what everyone was doing. He picked me and 2 others out of 500 or so applications.Gets on a skype call and tells me if you want the job I need you to meet me in New York next week for an interview. I freaked out. Started pacing all over the place.
-
I had only 3k saved up in my account and bought a ticket. Then told my mom I had gotten a job in New York(Iol). The day before I was suppose to have my interview in New York I was at the airport and my flight had gotten canceled(thanks spirit). There wasn't any until Monday and I debated quitting all of it.
-
The only option I had was to buy a ticket from another airline for 3 times the price. I then realized that if I turned around and went home, I would have to go back to the exact life I hated. Again, I said fuck it. Told myself the job was mine and I was going to do this. Bought the ticket(one-way) and took the flight. I got to New York and all the rooms were booked in the hostel so I had to just stay awake all night.....

(A picture I took walking to the hostel in New York)

The next day in NY at the interview he told me I was the only out of the 3 who had the confidence to take the flight on such short notice and that's exactly what he was looking for aside from my understanding of marketing. He then said we were leaving to Europe the next day and for the next 8 months I got to travel to a different city/country ever week. ... It was one of the happiest times yet biggest struggles of my entire life.
-
I met people slightly older than me making tons of money in internet marketing all over the world and got to speak in front of crowds regularly. It was insane and changed everything.

I was then given opportunity to help release a information product from the person I was consulting. With a small email list of about 4000-600 and limited information of both Facebook advertising plus email marketing we were able to generate over $100,000 in 2 months! Over $50,000 within the first week!

It was after this big win that I understood the real potential of what I was learning. I also knew it was not smart to just depend on one client to be the main source of my income. This is where I realized a Marketing Agency would be my best bet to increase my skills as fast as possible and get paid for it. I'd have tons of different clients to work on to see how to properly sell under any circumstance and also working on multiple clients at the same time would help me get better fast!
-
I partnered up with some good friends as the Director of Marketing in charge of basically all paid traffic, funnels, sales and ads for clients. Again one of the most challenging things I have ever done and we eventually grew the agency team to over 10 people.
So here I am now... focusing on my next chapter while getting the opportunity to wake up and do exactly what I want with my time every single day. I am extremely grateful for my partners and how far things have come.

Appreciate anyone who took the time to read this extremely long story, haha. At this point I am now focused on building side businesses as-well as my personal brand with everything I've learned.
Preview of a subscription business I'm currently building on the side!
My advice? Take the risk.
Won't be easy but it will be worth it.
